We are excited to announce the launch of a new video highlighting the H-HOPE project’s recently completed hydraulic piping test rig designed to study vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) as a potential source of clean energy.
Recorded during the H-HOPE consortium meeting in September, the video takes viewers inside the facility and provides a first-hand look at the test rig’s capabilities. The rig, developed over approximately ten months, provides a controlled environment to observe fluid–structure interactions and evaluate energy-harvesting concepts for future sensor technologies.
With its transparent test section and integrated data acquisition system, the test rig allows direct observation of VIV phenomena and real-time measurement of flow and vibration behaviour. Initial tests have confirmed its stability and repeatability, laying the foundation for testing the first energy-harvesting prototype, PPOP2.
The video marks an important milestone for the H-HOPE project, showcasing the transition from research and modelling to experimental validation and demonstrating progress toward sustainable, maintenance-free power solutions.
