We are pleased to announce the publication of our new paper, “A Systematic Review of Techno-Economic, Environmental, and Socioeconomic Assessments for Vibration Induced Energy Harvesting”, by Work Package 2 leaders Reykjavik University Bjarnhedinn Gudlaugsson, Bethany Marguerite Bronkema, Ivana Stepanovic, and David Christian Finger.
This review investigates the potential of vortex-induced vibration energy harvesters (VIEHs) to enhance the resilience of energy and water systems. Analyzing 139 studies, we explore the feasibility of these devices across technical, economic, and environmental dimensions. While most research focuses on technical feasibility, there is a significant gap in assessing their economic, environmental, and social impacts.
Our findings emphasise the need for comprehensive assessment tools to fully integrate VIEHs into existing infrastructure and unlock their potential for sustainable energy solutions.
