Last month, H-HOPE was proud to participate in the ETIP HYDROPOWER Brussels Days, a dynamic event that brought together key stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the evolving role of hydropower in the clean energy transition. Held in the heart of EU policymaking, the event served as a vital forum for sharing insights, strengthening collaboration, and aligning hydropower development with Europe’s strategic energy and climate goals.
As Europe pushes forward with its ambitious decarbonisation targets, hydropower remains a crucial pillar of the renewable energy mix. Throughout the Brussels Days, participants discussed how this mature and reliable technology can continue to evolve—integrating innovation, ensuring environmental sustainability, and reinforcing grid stability.
From infrastructure modernisation to hybrid solutions that combine hydropower with digital tools and other renewables, the discussions clearly reflected a shared commitment to making hydropower more flexible, digitalised, and environmentally friendly.
One of the core themes of the event was the importance of cross-sector collaboration—bringing together policymakers, researchers, technology developers, and energy providers to develop comprehensive solutions.
